David Smeaden is an Artist residing in Lavenham, Suffolk. Originally from Stratford, London he has been drawing and painting all his life.
His subjects are mainly Architecture and Landscapes. Mediums used are Ink, Acrylics and Watercolours.
"Suffolk has many timber framed buildings which lend themselves to my style of painting. I have a particular love of Architecture. I like to see old against new. I use Ink and, either, a Watercolour or Acrylic wash, or just pure Acrylic from the tube. Amongst the painters I admire are JMW Turner and Edward Seago. My landscapes are usually painted in pure Acrylic in a looser impressionistic style whereas the majority of my Architectural paintings are Ink and Wash".
David has exhibited in numerous exhibitions and received many commissions. His paintings can be found in London, East Anglia, Jersey, Australia and Japan. A number of his paintings have been featured on Greetings cards as well.
David is also a keen photographer, visiting many local places of interest to photograph and search out locations to paint. David has also entered paintings and photographs in many exhibitions too.
Many of David's paintings and prints are for sale and he is always open to commissions.
